How it works

It's easy...

You name the price at which you want to buy a product. Each winner can buy the product for which they bid at the price of their bid, no matter how high the actual retail price of the product is! The lowest unique bid wins the mutant auctions.

How to Win Auctions

The lowest unique bid wins in our auctions. This means that of the bids which were only made by one person, the smallest bid wins.

Let's consider an example auction::

In the example auction above, Tom is the winner. Both £0.03 and £0.04 are unique, as only one person bid those amounts. Of the unique bids, £0.03 is the lowest.. Since Tom's bid for £0.03 is the lowest unique bid, Tom wins the auction.

How to Place Bids

Placing a bid is as simple as typing your bid into a box. When you view an auction, you will have a choice of entering simple bids or multiple bids. To bid in an auction, go to the auction page and enter your bid in the box that looks like this:

Bid in Pence, not in Pounds

To make things easier on you, you can bid in pence instead of pounds. This means that you don't have to enter those pesky decimal points every time that you want to bid. All of our bid forms will interpret your bid in pence.

Examples of how to bid in pence:

  To bid £ 0.01 Enter 1
  To bid £ 0.02 Enter 2
  To bid £ 1.00 Enter 100
  To bid £ 2.00 Enter 200
  To bid £ 2.50 Enter 250

Simple Bids

The simplest bid that you can make is a single bid. Example of simple bids are £0.01, or £5.00. They are single numbers, starting at 0.01.

To place a simple bid, enter the amount that you want to bid into the "simple bid" box. Remember to enter the amount in pence.

If you want to bid £0.05, you would enter:

= £ 0.05

If you want to bid £0.10, you would enter:

= £ 0.10

If you want to bid £1.50, you would enter:

= £ 1.50

You can ignore the other bid boxes when placing a simple bid. Just enter the amount you wish to bid and press the first green Bid button (the simple bid button)..

Range Bids

Sometimes you want to place many bids at once. A great way to do this is to use the "range bid" boxes. By using range bid, you can place up to 20 consecutive bids at the same time.

To place a range bid, enter the first bid amount that you wish to bid, and the last bid amount that you wish to bid. Those two amounts, and every possible bid within those two amounts, will be bid.

If you want to bid every bid from £0.01 to £0.02, you would enter:

= £ 0.01 & £ 0.02

If you want to bid every bid from £0.01 to £0.05, you would enter:

= £ 0.01 & £ 0.02 & £ 0.03 &
£ 0.04 & £ 0.05

If you want to bid every bid from £1.20 to £1.28, you would enter:

= £ 1.20 & £ 1.21 & £ 1.22 &
£ 1.23 & £ 1.24 & £ 1.25 &
£ 1.26 & £ 1.27 & £ 1.28

Specifically, range bids bid the inclusive range between two numbers, in incriments of £0.01.

When you place range bids, you can ignore the "simple bid" box. Just enter your first bid into the "from" box and your last bid into the "to" box, and press the second green Bid button (the range bid button).
